Our riding school is located at Centro Hípico da Quinta da Marinha, one of the largest equestrian centres in the Iberian Peninsula.

Instruction in English
Miguel Alves, our FEP-certified instructor since 1997, teaches in Portuguese, English, and French. International students and expat families in Cascais and Estoril are always welcome.
For First-Timers: What to Expect
Never ridden before? That’s perfectly fine — most of our students start from zero.
Before your first lesson, we’ll take a few minutes to cover:
- How to communicate with the horse
- Basic rein handling and balance
- Safety protocols in and around the arena
You don’t need to bring any equipment. We provide certified helmets and body protectors at no extra cost.
What to wear:
- Comfortable trousers (not stiff jeans)
- Closed-toe shoes with a flat or slightly heeled sole (no heavy-soled trainers)

Trail Rides on the Guincho — Not Just Lessons
Beyond the arena, we offer guided trail rides through some of the most beautiful scenery in Portugal:
- Guincho Beach dunes — riding with the sound of the Atlantic
- Quinta da Marinha pinewoods — sheltered forest trails
- Sunset rides — ideal for couples or special occasions
No experience necessary. Our guides accompany every group and adapt the pace to your level. Rides start at €35 per person (30 min).
How to Get There from Lisbon
By car: Take the A5 motorway towards Cascais. Continue to the end of the A5, turn left towards Birre, then follow signs to Quinta da Marinha. Total time: approximately 30 minutes.
