Miguel Alves has been a certified riding instructor since 1997, holding his FEP Monitor certification from the Federação Equestre Portuguesa. Based at the Centro Hípico da Quinta da Marinha in Cascais, he has spent more than two decades teaching riders of all ages — from young children taking their first steps around the arena to adults preparing for national competition.
His teaching philosophy is simple: every rider is different, and progress comes when the programme is built around the individual. Whether working with a five-year-old on their first pony, or coaching a junior rider preparing for a national showjumping circuit, Miguel adapts his method to each person's pace, goals and horse.
Teaching languages
Miguel teaches fluently in Portuguese, English and French. International families, expats living in Cascais or Estoril, and visitors spending time in the Lisbon area are always welcome.
Location
The school is located at the Centro Hípico da Quinta da Marinha — one of the largest equestrian complexes on the Iberian Peninsula. The centre offers indoor and outdoor arenas, box stables, paddocks and direct access to the trails of the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park and the iconic Guincho dunes.
Quinta da Marinha is just 30 minutes from central Lisbon via the A5 motorway.
