Book About the Routes
The Sintra-Cascais Natural Park, near Guincho, is one of the most scenic riding areas in Portugal. The 30 and 60-minute rides stay inside the natural area of the Quinta da Marinha equestrian centre. The 90 and 120-minute rides cross the park, enter via the golf course and go out to the dunes, with views of the sea and the Sintra hills.
Our trail rides depart from the Centro Hípico da Quinta da Marinha and follow marked routes through privately maintained trails and natural park paths. The horses are well-accustomed to the terrain and are selected by temperament for each group.
What to expect
- Departure from stables with a brief horse introduction (5–10 min)
- Always at a walk — no trotting or cantering
- 30 and 60 min: inside Quinta da Marinha. 90 and 120 min: out to the dunes, with sea views
- Not on the beach — horses are not allowed on the sand

Do I need riding experience for a trail ride?
No. The rides are suitable for complete beginners. All rides are at a walk — no trotting or cantering.

What is the minimum age?
Children from age 8 can join with a parent or guardian. Younger children may be considered on a case-by-case basis — please contact us.

What should I wear?
Comfortable trousers, closed-toe shoes with a flat sole. We provide certified helmets at no charge.

Can I book a sunset ride?
Yes. Sunset rides are available on request during spring and summer. Contact us to check availability.

Is the ride suitable for couples or special occasions?
Absolutely. Many couples choose the 60 or 90-minute ride as a unique experience. We can arrange special requests — ask us.

How many people per group?
Maximum 6 riders per guide for safety. Private rides for 1-2 people are available at the same price.

Can we ride the horses onto the beach?
No. Portuguese law permanently protects the dune ecosystem, so horses are not allowed on the sand. The 90 and 120-minute rides follow trails through the dunes, with sea views.
